DISCOVER OUR STORY

Remodels. Additions. New Homes. Built with Experience.

For more than three decades, Green Head Builders has helped homeowners in Tallahassee and the surrounding area bring their ideas to life.

Founded by Brian Markley and now carried forward with his son, Winston, Green Head Builders is a family-owned general contracting company built on experience, craftsmanship, and doing things the right way.

Whether you're remodeling the home you love, adding the space your family needs, or building a new home from the ground up, we're here to make the process straightforward and the finished product something you're proud to call home.

Grain, Knots, and All

A homeowner came to Green Head with a simple wish: a space that felt like it belonged outdoors, even with a roof over it. They wanted warmth, texture, and the kind of character you only get from real wood. This one was a passion project from the start, for them and for us.

We sat down together, talked through the look they were picturing, and landed on knotty tongue-and-groove planks running across the ceiling and down the walls. We left the knots and color variation right where they fell, because that’s where the personality is. Recessed lighting keeps the lines clean and lets the grain do the talking.

The result is a room that feels calm, cozy, and a little bit like a cabin, no matter what’s happening outside. It’s a good reminder of why we love this work: when someone brings us an idea they care about, we get to build something that feels like theirs.

Bathroom with painted beadboard walls, a freestanding dark-finish tub, and a vintage hanging light

Where the Tub Takes Center Stage

This homeowner wanted a bathroom that felt calm and a little timeless, the kind of room you actually want to linger in. They came to Green Head with a clear picture in mind: soft, clean wall paneling, a statement tub, and a fixture overhead with some character.

We built out the walls with painted beadboard and horizontal plank paneling, which gives the room that relaxed cottage feel without being fussy. A freestanding tub with a dark finish anchors the space, and the vintage-style hanging light adds a warm glow that makes the whole room feel softer. The marble-look floor and glass shower tie it together without competing for attention.

It’s a good example of how small, thoughtful choices add up. Nothing here is flashy, it’s just well built and well planned, and it feels like it has always belonged in the house.

Post-frame building with heavy timber posts, steel trusses, and a metal roof

Room to Work, Room to Grow

This client needed a lot of covered space and wanted it built to last. They came to Green Head with a practical goal: a sturdy, open structure that could shelter equipment and work areas, with a finished room tucked inside.

We went with post-frame construction, using heavy timber posts, steel trusses, and a metal roof. It goes up efficiently, handles the weather well, and leaves plenty of open floor to use however you like. While the main structure took shape, we framed out an enclosed room inside, so there’s a protected space right where it’s needed.

It’s a straightforward build done right: strong bones, honest materials, and a layout that works hard for the people using it.

Backyard with new decks and refreshed siding beside a pool

Done Right, Done on Time

This homeowner had a great house and a great backyard, but the exterior was ready for some attention. They came to Green Head looking for a full refresh, and they wanted it handled start to finish without the headaches.

The project covered new decks and a siding refresh, which together gave the whole back of the home a clean, updated look. The finished space ties in nicely with the pool, making the yard feel like a place you actually want to spend time in.

Just as important as the result was how we got there. We kept the job on schedule, the site tidy, and the communication clear, so the homeowners could enjoy the process as much as the finished product. It’s a big transformation, and it came together smoothly.

Great room with a tall natural stone fireplace, exposed wood beams, and a vaulted ceiling

Built Around the Fireplace

Building a home from scratch is a big step, and this homeowner wanted a space that felt warm, open, and made to last. They came to Green Head with a vision, and we got to help bring it to life from the ground up.

The great room is the heart of the house. A tall natural stone fireplace anchors the space, framed by exposed wood beams and a vaulted ceiling that lets in plenty of light. Tall windows on either side keep the room bright, and the wood floors and soft neutral walls give it a relaxed, welcoming feel. A statement chandelier finishes it off without taking over.

A new build comes with a lot of moving parts, and our job is to keep them all working together. The result is a home that feels thoughtful and well put together, with details that were worth the care.

Remodeled kitchen with white raised-panel cabinets, an island, and recessed lighting

Rebuilding the Heart of the Home

The kitchen is the hardest working room in the house, and this homeowner was ready for one that actually worked for them. They came to Green Head wanting to start over: new layout, new cabinets, and a space built around the way they really cook, clean, and gather.

We took the room down to the basics and rebuilt it. Crisp white raised-panel cabinets now line the walls, with plenty of storage and a clean, bright look. The layout makes it easy to move between the range, the counters, and the island area, so everything has a place and nothing gets in the way.

New recessed lighting keeps the whole room well lit for everything from morning coffee to a big family dinner.

Redoing a working space like this is about more than looks. It’s about making daily life easier, and that’s the kind of project we like most. When a room works well, you feel it every time you walk in.
